There's a tapestry in the works here this week. There has been an ongoing interest in basic sewing stitches in the house lately, so I decided to go with it and create a group tapestry that could be worked on over several sessions whenever the mood struck.
I had seen a beautifully constructed stand to use to create a tapestry somewhere out there in internet land, but decided to improvise by stretching some burlap across the legs of a bench and securing it with duct tape. You could easily do this with chair legs as well. The best part is the bench can be put back up when not in use and lowered down when it's time to sew.
I provided several types of thread, yarn and ribbon on different sized needles and some fun buttons to add. The whole activity was just the right level for the 4.5 year old twins. Now I need to decide how best to display this work of art - wall hanging?
