It's apple season here. Even though a late frost wiped out a lot of the apple crop, we spent the week enjoying autumn apple foods and crafts. We shared the story The Little Red House with no Doors and Windows and a Star Inside. The magic of cutting an apple sideways and finding a star inside is one that never gets old. This site here has a number of apple related poems, ost of them short enough that even little ones can learn quickly.
To celebrate apple week, we went apple picking (just enough to get a small bag of apples), made apple sauce and apple crisp, and did a little needle felting.
We made needle felted apple trees by forming a stem, adding whatever color wool we wanted for the leaves, and then rolled small bits of red and added them for the apples. I LOVE how they turned out and they are currently hanging out near our nature tray. Both Hadley and Finley are very proud of their trees, and have there own plans to make more trees.
