This week we stuck with the goat theme for our weekly story and activities and shared the story Three Billy Goats Gruff read from the Grimm's Fairy Tales It was a much bigger hit then last weeks story (probably because it had a troll). We continued working on the poem Old Hogan's Goats and the kids are excited to be moving on to something new this week. To go along with the story, our activity this week was building a bridge for the goats to cross the river using marshmallows and toothpicks. This was really fun for all of us (partially due to the consumption of sugar that went along with this - I think next time I would use clay instead of marshmallows).
On baking day Finley requested pumpkin cookies (hmm there was a bit of sugar here this week!) They were more like pumpkin scones, but made it feel like fall around here.
This week we sculpted outside with beeswax which made the beeswax nice and soft. We tried to make the characters of the story and I retold the story until they could remember the words and then they took turns retelling it to each other.
And finally for our nature time, we spent some time here in our own yard talking about squirrels, and eventually simply enjoying the raspberries.
