Simple Santas

These little Santas were the result of another project I am currently working on.  As I was cutting some sticks in our garage, I was reminded of similar Santas we had in our home growing up, a few quick cuts later and I was on my way to my own set.  To make the faces, I used oil paint to get a thick layer for the beard and fur - I also happened to have some around, but you could easily use other types of paint.  It was fun to come up with a slightly different face for each Santa.  I may decide to coat the Santas in Mod Podge, but depending on the bark, it may not be necessary.

I happened to complete these Santas without the help of my kiddos, but this (especially the stick collecting and the painting part) would be a great activity with little ones.  I think it may also be possible to make snowmen this way, using 3 rounds cut from a stick and stacked... hmmmmm I'm sensing another project.
