Yarn Along

Join the Yarn Along over at Small Things

I just started these socks for my daughter with this gorgeous alpaca.  I am working my way through some of the projects in One Skein Wonders and am rapidly improving my knitting skills.  I chose these socks precisely so that if I got the sizing wrong, I could either wait a few years for them to fit, or reserve them for the new arrival. Being a week overdue with this baby means I am choosing small projects, it also means that I am working my way through my 'comfort' books.

I often find myself drawn back to the same books when I need a place to relax.  This week I revisited Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.  It is like talking to a old friend to read this book, one that I can easily put aside if I need to.  I am also skimming through several books on early education methodology, Waldorf, unschooling, etc.  I am secretly hoping that I don't get a chance to work on these socks in the next few days, but this baby will come when it is ready and there seems to be very little I can do to change this!

  3. What a gorgeous color. Hope you can squeeze them in before baby arrives. But then again, babies are awfully nice! :)

  4. Books like that ARE like old friends, aren't they? For me, it's Jane Eyre.

    From the other Gretchen...

  5. My husband has some alpaca socks (I didn't knit them) that are his absolute favorites . . . maybe someday. P&P is like that for me too, I never tire of reading it again.
