Garden Musings: A Roundup: March 13, 2012
I've decided that I'm going to start sharing a periodic update on our
gardening adventures. We are growing gardeners, with much more
enthusiasm then experience, so these posts are likely to contain a good
deal of mistakes and a few successes.
Bees Bees Bees
Oooh... We are getting so excited to welcome the newest arrivals to our home - or all 10,000 new arrivals, give or take a few.
Our children's' garden (or more correctly, F-H-F Land) is starting to take shape. A few months ago (see here),
we started dreaming of an outdoor space that would excite the
imagination of our little ones; an area that would connect little hands
to nature; and an area that was (almost) all their own.
Cold Day at the Farm
Last week we spent a day volunteering at a farm that supplies fresh food to the local food bank.
This past Friday our package of bees arrived!
Despite a warmer then average spring, Friday here was not only cold but blustery.
Garden Musings: Roots
For so many years, Dave and I were nomadic people. We worked onboard tall ships running educational/science programs
. Garden Musings: June 7, 2012
I seem to have a few problems at this time of year in the garden.
First, I always plant things too early because, well, I just get excited
and can't help myself.
Garden Musings: May 22, 2012
Hopefully we've passed our final frost this year, and we've been busily getting.seeds planted and seedlings in the ground.
Turns out the bees really love chive flowers. When we first got the
bees, we expected to see them around the yard visiting the flowers, but
they seemed to be flying off over the tree and into the woods (possibly
to visit the honeysuckle there, or a a neighboring field).
